Imjin (壬辰) day pillar

A reservoir: a deep and large vessel

What the Imjin day pillar is like

Imjin is great water (壬) held in late-spring earth (辰). Earth dams water, so Seven Killings (편관) sits below, and the stage is Tomb (묘). The branch 辰 is a store for water, so the picture is a reservoir: strength gathered and then used on a large scale.

It thinks big and has ambition, and it suits leading people through difficult situations. Hidden in 辰 are 乙 as Hurting Officer (상관) and 癸 as Rob Wealth (겁재), adding a way with words and a will to win. It rarely shows its hand, and people may say they cannot tell how deep it goes.

A full reservoir spills all at once; feelings held back too long can burst out. Letting them out in small amounts, often, is the way to manage this pillar.

The Imjin ilju (day pillar), character by character

Number 29 of the sixty-pillar cycle. The table shows what Halmeoni's calendar engine computes for this pillar.

FactValue
Top character (day master)壬 — the sea or a great river (yang water)
Bottom character (day branch)辰 — Dragon · earth · late spring (about April)
Yin-yangyang (both characters)
Elementswater above, earth below
How the two relateThe bottom character presses on the top one: shaped by duty and pressure.
Hidden stems (ten gods)乙 Hurting Officer (상관), 癸 Rob Wealth (겁재), 戊 Seven Killings (편관)
Ten god of the day branchSeven Killings (편관) — pressure and hard duties; for a woman, a lover
Twelve stagesTomb (묘) — stored away: saving, holding on
Void branches (공망)午, 未 — an empty spot: what is hard to hold on to

Hidden stems are the forces tucked inside the bottom character; the last one listed is the strongest. Ten gods describe each character as seen from the top character, the day master, so the same bottom character gets a different name under a different day master. The void branches are the two that have no partner in this pillar's ten-day week; they only matter when they appear elsewhere in a chart.

A day pillar is only two of the eight characters in a chart. People who share it can read very differently once the year, month and hour are added, so take this as entertainment, not as a verdict on who you are.
