Gimi (己未) day pillar

A dry field in high summer: firm at the core

What the Gimi day pillar is like

Gimi sets farm soil (己) over the earth of late summer (未). Earth above and below make a same-element pillar, with Friend (비견) in the day branch and Coming of age (관대) as its stage. Like a summer field baked firm, it is mild outside, firm at the core, with clear standards.

Hidden in 未 are 丁 as Indirect Resource (편인) and 乙 as Seven Killings (편관), so unusual thinking and a sense of duty live together. It does its work quietly and keeps at it even when nobody notices.

Dry fields need water, and only enduring alone dries the heart. Keeping a friend to share things with close by is good for it.

The Gimi ilju (day pillar), character by character

Number 56 of the sixty-pillar cycle. The table shows what Halmeoni's calendar engine computes for this pillar.

FactValue
Top character (day master)己 — farm soil (yin earth)
Bottom character (day branch)未 — Goat · earth · late summer (about July)
Yin-yangyin (both characters)
Elementsearth above, earth below
How the two relateThe same element above and below, so that element's nature shows plainly.
Hidden stems (ten gods)丁 Indirect Resource (편인), 乙 Seven Killings (편관), 己 Friend (비견)
Ten god of the day branchFriend (비견) — people on your level: friends, siblings, peers; your pride
Twelve stagesComing of age (관대) — putting on adult clothes: confidence
Void branches (공망)子, 丑 — an empty spot: what is hard to hold on to

Hidden stems are the forces tucked inside the bottom character; the last one listed is the strongest. Ten gods describe each character as seen from the top character, the day master, so the same bottom character gets a different name under a different day master. The void branches are the two that have no partner in this pillar's ten-day week; they only matter when they appear elsewhere in a chart.

The twelve stages here count backwards for yin stems (the 음포태 method). Schools that give yin stems the yang table (양포태) get a different stage for this pillar.

A day pillar is only two of the eight characters in a chart. People who share it can read very differently once the year, month and hour are added, so take this as entertainment, not as a verdict on who you are.
