Safety and crisis messages

Last updated 2026-10-09

Halmeoni is an AI playing a character, not a person, and cannot be there for you the way a person can in a hard moment. This is what we do.

What we watch for

  • Before any reading is written, your message is checked for words about suicide or self-harm, in Korean, English, Spanish, German and French.
  • Before an answer is shown, it is checked again for any description of methods or means of self-harm.
  • Halmeoni is instructed to drop the character when these come up, answer gently, point to a crisis line, and never describe methods.

What happens then

  • Instead of a reading, you get a plain, out-of-character message with crisis lines.
  • Nothing is sent to the AI, and nothing is charged.
  • The conversation is not saved. We count how many times the message was shown, with its language and time only: no text, and nothing about who you are.

If you need help now

  • US and Canada: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). In the US you can also text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line).
  • UK and Ireland: Samaritans, 116 123.
  • Australia: Lifeline, 13 11 14.
  • Anywhere else: findahelpline.com lists free, confidential lines in your country.
  • If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.

Limits

These checks use patterns and will not catch everything. Halmeoni's readings are for entertainment and are no substitute for counselling or treatment.
